Celebrate Cinco de Mayo Weekend at Rápidos

Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner, and we at Rapidos Mexican Restaurant are thrilled to celebrate this festive occasion with you! This year, we're bringing two bands, Outlaw Jim and The Whiskey Benders and Whiskey Blend, to keep the festivities going all weekend long. So, join us for a day filled with live music, drink specials, food specials, t-shirt giveaways, free swag, and an outdoor tent to keep the party going rain or shine!

History of Cinco de Mayo

Before we dive into the festivities, let's take a moment to talk about the history of Cinco de Mayo. Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day (September 16th). Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla, which took place on May 5th, 1862. The Mexican army, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza, defeated the much larger and better-equipped French army in this battle. While the victory was ultimately short-lived, as the French went on to conquer Mexico, the Battle of Puebla became a symbol of Mexican resistance against foreign domination.

Our live music for Cinco 2024

We are thrilled to announce Live music on Saturday, May 4th, and Sunday, May 5th.

On May 4th, we will have The Whiskey Blend Band, a Kansas City area-based band specializing in classic country and classic rock. They played for us last Cinco. They Will play from 5-9pm!

On May 5th, Outlaw Jim and The Whiskey Benders will return. They are an Outlaw Country band that draws inspiration from the sounds of Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard, New Orleans Funk, and Southern Rock. They will start at 3pm

T-Shirt Giveaways: Show off your love for Rapidos Mexican Restaurant by wearing one of our branded t-shirts. We'll give them away throughout the day, so come early to ensure you get yours.
Free Swag: In addition to our t-shirt giveaways, we'll also have free swag available for you to take home. You never know what you'll get, from sunglasses to keychains, so stop by and see what we have in store.
Outdoor Tent: We'll have a tent set up outside, where you can enjoy the festivities in the open air. Our outdoor tent is perfect for enjoying live music, food, and drinks with your friends and family.
Outdoor Bar: Beat the line at our outdoor bar, The Cinco Cantina, where we will serve delicious margaritas and beer all night.
Share Your Night with Friends: We will have a professional photographer on-site to capture all the fun! Dine Inside, then Party Outside: We will serve a full kitchen and bar inside. After, you can listen to live music outside.
Where to Park: Parking is available in the normal lot behind the building and at the hotel next door.
